Before she leaves, I made do a sampling of blood for Laïs to pass on it to the team of Catherine André of the genetics and development research unit of the University of Rennes1-UMR6061 (CNRS). The French Club of the RACP helped in 2008 financially the research program on the canine genome concerning the dysplasie and the epilepsy (shepherd and Great Pyr).

Having discussed with Catherine during the regional of breeding of Rennes 2009, she had said to me her interest for samples of blood of elderly dogs and she was very interested in the longevity of my Laïs. Laïs will thus have contributed, as the other dogs from the knowledge of the genetically contagious diseases.

The UMR6061 has various partners among which the french canine central Society and the US AKC.

Thank you very much.
Lais had a beautiful and long life. Possessing a very marked character, she gave rhythm to our lives. Even to the last days, she had the easy tooth and did not still cooperate with us.
Take charge of her during two years in a daily way, by paying attention on the fact that nobody bedsore or wound does not come to complicate things, to help her to move, to pay attention that she always has some approachable water and suddenly meet itself with two dogs without too much story (all the same some footnotes of story, otherwise it would not be funny), it makes quite bizarre and too quiet.
Lais was a bitch of character and strength, with an envy to live phenomenal. Even the last days, she continued to knock down chairs, to be stuck in the bars of a scale, just to be with us.
A real bulldozer ...

It is really too quiet ...

Lais fell asleep last Wednesday(17 june 2009) with the help of the veterinarian. Everything degraded in only 24 hours. She had been born on August 31st, 1995. A story of life which ends, she fell asleep calmed.

lol, yes, he is a water boy. It might be because we were back at a lake the whole first summer of his life and he couldn't get enough of it! He loves to snoop around in swamps and cool down in the lake :)
