I'm originally from Michigan and am now in North Carolina. I found that my Pyr's coats didn't grow as thick in North Carolina. They seem to be somewhat self adjusting. I'm always careful with my dogs, have never shaved them but definitely brush the…
You might be bathing too much Try adding a little oil to their food like salmon oil- that might help And don't wash so much!! Your pup is beautiful too I wish I could get the dark mask!
In your pictures they all look beautifully groomed! I bathe as little as possible and I don't use a cream rinse. If your dog is healthy I find that their coats will be in wonderful condition without additives and many cream rinses actually cause a yellowish tint to the coat. For washing I often use Dawn dish detergent- wonderful for dogs coats and doesn't strip out the oils. I also like Plush Puppy and Plum White- both all natural shampoos. For most grooming though I rely primarily on combing out the coat The Pyr coat naturally sheds dirt so a good brushing is often all they need

Yes!! 6 boys and 2 girls - they are just 4 weeks old now and all are doing well! I started a blog but need to update pictures here. Melissa has updated pictures on her website for Abstrax Great Pyrenees since she has the dad!
Hi Teresa thank you for your nice compliment for my Pyrs .
Both get all raw meet from the Cow , the beef , muscle meat , greener rumen and all other things from the Cow. Sometimes they get both fish to greenfish and other but not very often . And they get potatoes , nodles , cottage cheese , curd and vegetable .
It is so hard to lose them when they are young! My pups also are marked at birth but by 6 months old have faded almost totally out. I would love to have one that keeps its color- maybe this litter as the Limberlost lines tend to keep color. For feeding I feed 1/2 raw and 1/2 kibble. The kibble is naturally based with minimal grain and no corn or wheat etc in it. The dogs LOVE their raw BTW and I even start puppies on raw by about 6 weeks old too!
I use a brightening shampoo on the dogs and blow dry them out after every bath. Blowing the coat dry also helps blow out any dirt the bath may have missed.
As for the grooming table my male Tache just jumps right up. Bambina I pick her up and put her on the table as she is still a pup, I don't want her to injure herself - she just turned 9 months old yesterday. When they are on the grooming table just make it out to be a "party" for their first time, lots of praise. Most Pyrs I have come across really love being on the grooming table and being groomed. It's very nice one on one time.
I am really glad you like the dogs. Welcome to GPC :)
