About Me: Tell us a bit about yourself and your interest in animals
So here is some information about me.
My kennel name is Ursa's Signum
I got my first Pyr in 1991. With the help of a good friend and breeder I bought a female from a breeder in Danmark.
She had been already on shows, also in Holland and was very promising "Granly Nana". With her I had my first litter in 1993.
I kept a female, Ursa's Signum Advena Alba "Misty" and a male Ursa's Signum Alazon "Monty".
I also imported a female from Belgium in 1993: Romanee du Mas de Canaillou "Romanee".
Later [1994] I imported a female fom Euzkotar, Euzkotar the Rumor Mill "Gringa", she was bred prior to importing her to CH Euzkotar the Jazz Man "Jasper".
I also took AM Ch Euzkotar Silent Running "Runner " home with me. He has some offspring in Holland, Germany and 2m of his sons went to Denmark and Sweden.
He became Dutch Champion too and was the winner of the Meilleur Montagne trophee in 1995.
I showed my dogs in several countries, Germany, Danmark, Belgium, Luxembourg and France.
The male I kept from my first litter, Ursa's Signum Alazon became Dutch, International and Luxembourg Champion.
The one and only pup from the litter which I "imported" with Gringa, Ursa's Signum Bairn One Jazz Rumor "Bairney"became Dutch and International Champion.
One female of my first Llitter and later 3 males from other litters went back to "Euzkotar" so there is some offspring of them in the USA.
2 Males from my C litter went to breeders Danmark and Sweden and sired some puppies there.
I attended the National Specialty of the GPCA in 1994, 1996 and 2000 .
In 2000 I was asked if I liked to judge the Futury class at the GPCA National in Sacramento. It was a great experience.
Also in 2000 I imported another puppy male from Arlene & Phil Oraby: Ursas Tambel du Bousquet. He is the sire of 3 litters here in the Netherlands and lives with a dear friend of mine since the end of 2001.
In January 2001 I had my last litter of which I kept a female and a male, Isabeau & Jitan. In December 2001 my husband died and I was not able to go on with my breeding plans.
Now I live with the last 2 Pyrs of my own breeding, Stacey [a daughter of Gringa] almost 10 years old and Isabeau from my last litter 7 1/2 years old and two Chinese Crested Powcer Puff male puppies [11 & 9 month old]

UPDATE:

In October 2008 2 more Powder Puff youngsters [males] joined the family.
December 18th Devlin went to the Rainbow Bridge.
January 16th Stacey passed away at the age of 10 years and 3 months.

So now [March 5th 2009] I am living with Isabaeu, my Pyr girl and the 4 Powder Puff youngsters.

My kennel website is out of cyberspace at the moment, but some pictures and videos can be seen at http://www.jistadis.net/honden.htm

Besides the dogs my interests are photography, traditional China Painting and digital imaging.

The Great Pyrenees Connection website is up and running now, with new design and content [pedigree database] at http://www.greatpyrenees.com

My "Fuzzy Family" is growing

Faster than I was planning....... last month I got two more Chinese Crested Powder Puff puppies, 6 & 8 month old. For health raesons their owner could not give them the care they needed. They integrated very well and we have a lot of fun.

And despite of that I was quite happy now living with four small ones and the two Pyr girls, I could not resist and today a 8 1/2 year old Pyr male joined our pack.
While I was talking to my friend yesterday evening she told me that one Pyr of her breeding… Continue

That's old 10 years and 3 months for a dog with severe HD!!!
Monty is on anabolics too but is getting aggressive of the stuff so we use it at less as possible. I'm proud he's already thát old! He's the oldest dog we ever had.
Before him we had St Bernards and they both reached the age of 11 years too.
But it's such a sad period and I think it's tough on all of us.

Thank you Urs but I don't think Monty will live for some more years.
His backhand is getting very weak and I don't think he will live another year :(
We are taking good care of him, as good as we can.

Oops! I made a mistake, I didn't mean to say I have a site, because I don't have one on Pyrs. Thanks for welcoming me into this group. which I was invited in by Elena Vespa. She was the breeder of two of our lovely 5 years old Pyrs, Urs and Reina (brother and sister). I hope to be capable of introducing some of our family pictures of our dogs, but I am hopelessly incapable of using computers in all of their splendor! So, you may be seeing that figure head in all grey for awhile!

Dear Ursa,
thank you for your welcome!
Yes finally I joined this very interesting Pyrs.Community.
It is nice to know many lovers of the breed around the world and to see also beautiful pictures of the dogs.
