Certainly some lines are better than others for pigmentation. But we se here in Scandinavia pyrs from Scandinavian lines, English, American, French, Belgium, Italien lines, etc, and still most of the all white ones do not have a completely black nose at 3 years. Some are better than others, some start out completely black, like Cortesa, and still don't stay black, some never have black noses, eyerims, lips even as puppies. My first female pyr was an all white every bit as black pigmentated as Cortesa, it lasted only until the first winter.

I personally find an all white with black nose very beuatiful. It gives such a lovely expression with the contrast of the black pigment and white coat. The problem is you never know if a 8 weeks old puppy will keep the pigmentation or not

As you say there are lines better for pigmentation than others, but I do not know of a line, where I can feel confident that in this line the pigmentation will keep black.

She is beautiful, and such lovely pigmentation. As you probably know the only reason I chose Celtia instead of Cortesa was because she was all white. We so seldom see all whites pyrs - ans especially bitches - keep the black nose as they grow up. Maybe your sunny and warm weather is better for pigmentation than up here in the colder north. Certainly many all whites pyrs have better pigmentation during summer than during winter.

Hi, I put in a couple of pictures more of Celtia. Of course there is a resemblence, maybe not great but more so between the 2 sisters than between either of them and Cabestan. I find Cortesa more extreme in head than Celtia, and maybe more like Ciel, but I have not seen any recent pictures of her either. And they change a lot from one year to almost 2 year of age.

Hi again. Yes I see now how it is done. Cortesa is lovely, but I do think she resembles Celtia greatly. But then I did not find them very much alike when I saw them as puppies either. Beautiful females both of them and with lovely type, though. Maybe when I see pictures of Cortesa the age she is now, I will change my mind about them being alike. I look forward to se them.

Hi Lee and Scachar. I just looked through all you pictures, but I am not sure which ones are Cortesa. I think picture 8 and 9 must be her, but quite young. Pictures 22, 23 and 24 are they also Cortesa ?

Hi Lee and Scachar
Thank you. I got pictures from Elena today of Cabestan, he is big handsome boy now. I hope to see some pictures also of Cortesa

The important is not necessarily that a dog works or not but it is that it keeps its attavisme and especially is not likened to a dangerous dog. In Europe, the legislation tightened a lot on dogs said about attack and about guard.
It is not possible any more, if we do not want that a day there is a ban to raise and to possess certain races, to make impote what. With dogs stemming from recognized breedings and with pedigree no concerns.
As for you, as for us, the danger is the free births who can become a threat for the serious breeding.

Thank you for your answer.
You speek about pyrenees-mix. Do you see some of there ?
Have you an idea on their temperament and behavior ?
In France in zone of mountain at risks, especially in the Alps with the wolf, some shepherds cross dogs with the other races giving a dog of "white" aspect and type mountain but who present defects of character what is very harmful for the race. To the club, we try to check the tendency with the agricultural authorities but it is not easy. It is necessary to avoid the accidents with the walkers and the fast mixtures made.

In Pyrenees with the bear, the situation is different and we have more the presence of better typified dogs mountains (it is all the same the cradle of the race). We work with associations of shepherds. With the Canine Central Society (the french representant of FCI), a new certificate of capacity (Certificate of sociability and capacity in the protection herd) will be born in the months which come or in the year 2010.

Beauty and work are important and somewhere inseparable to have a good and beautiful dog.
